John I Beare Family
John Isaac Beare was born on 2 February 1857 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. He is the son of George Beare and Susan Smyth. In 1866 he went to Jermyns School, Kilbrogan Street and stayed there until the age of 12. He next attended Frederick Carroll's School in 1870. On 25 January 1876 John Isaac travelled to Dublin to meet his tutor at Trinity College, Dublin. In 1878 he won a first class scholarship, and his brilliant career as a student closed with him being elected a fellow of his college in 1887. From 1889 - 1898 he held the chair of Moral Philosophy, and in 1902 he was appointed Regios Professor of Greek until 1915 when he became Senior Proctor. On 14 February 1884 John married Augusta Fanny Machin in St. Peter's Church, Dublin, and they lived in Bushy Park Road, Dublin. They have three children, Susan Frances, George Edward (Billy) and Frances Victoria. John fell foul of a deadly strain of influenza coursing through Ireland at that time, and on 11 November 1918 at the age of 61 he died. He is buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery in Dublin.

Augusta Fanny Machin was born on 12 May 1865 and was christened on 6 September 1868 in Saint Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. She is the daughter of Edward Machin and Frances Hayden. Augusta married John Isaac Beare, son of George Beare and Susan Smyth, on 14 February 1884 in St. Peter's Church, Dublin. They had three children. Augusta died on 21 July 1931 and is buried in St. Jeromes Cemetary, Dublin.

Susan Frances Beare was born on 4 September 1884 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. She is the first daughter and first child of John Isaac Beare and Augusta Fanny Machin. On 11 January 1885 Susan was baptised in St. Peters Church, Bandon by Reverend J.R. Porte. Susan got engaged to Captain George Francis Farran and they were married on 5 August 1911 at Rathfarnham Church, Dublin. In September the two newly married Farrans left for India. They sailed on the P & O "India" from Tilbury docks, and arrived at Nowshera on the 15 October 1911. They had a daughter, Frances Susan Farran, on 6 December 1912 in Rawal Pindi. Susan died on 9 September 1954 at the age of 70 in Folkestone, Kent, England.

George Edward (Billy) Beare was born 5 May 1886 in Dublin. He is the second child and only son of John Isaac Beare and Augusta Machin. Billy was brought to Bandon and Christened in St. Peters Church by Reverend H. Paul. He was diagnosed with tuberculosis on 2 March 1903 and, as the Irish climate was deemed unsuitable, Billy went to live in South Africa with his uncle Dr. George Beare. It must have been a sad day for his mother to say goodbye to him on 9 July 1903, knowing in her heart she would never see her only son again. Billy was visited twice by his father, John Isaac Beare, during his sojourn there, and his health did improve. However he eventually succumbed to that desperate disease and died on 10 June 1909 at the age of 25. He is buried in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Frances Victoria Beare was born on 25 August 1887 in Dublin. She is the second daughter and third child of John Isaac Beare and Augusta Fanny Machin. Frances died on 2 June in 1937 in Dublin, and is buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery, Dublin, Ireland.
